You’ll enjoy an incredible experience today: a visit to a Fijian village to learn about Fijian history and culture prior to the introduction of Christianity. This spectacular rainforest habitat contains some of the most primitive flora and fauna on the planet. You’ll depart Cairns and ride on the 132-year-old Kuranda Scenic Railway, enjoying breathtaking views as you journey through 15 hand-cut tunnels and past spectacular waterfalls, to the top of the mountain range. In Kuranda, visit the Australian Butterfly Sanctuary and admire the 1,500 resident tropical butterflies that flutter around freely. You’ll enjoy an included lunch, as well as some free time to explore on your own. First settled in 1885, today Kuranda is a bohemian retreat known for its markets, arts and crafts galleries, and street performances. Later, you’ll board the 4.6-mile Skyrail Rainforest Cableway and glide across the rainforest canopy, stopping en route to walk through the rainforest and take in jaw-dropping views of Barron Falls. Your excursion will come to an end at Caravonica Lakes and you’ll return to your hotel from there.

Bordering metropolitan Sydney, the Blue Mountains were formed about a million years ago and are so named for the blue haze that tinges them and the surrounding valleys. Today, the entire area is a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site, and you’ll explore its highlights on a full-day tour beginning with a drive to Featherdale Wildlife Park. Here, you’ll meet cuddly koalas, spry kangaroos, and other indigenous Australian wildlife. En route to the town of Katoomba, you’ll savor an included lunch before boarding the Scenic Railway — the steepest passenger railway in the world — and make your way down to the Jamison Valley. Enjoy a walk through the forest, surrounded by the enchanting calls of bell miners, lyrebirds, and more.
