What to Expect

Activity Level

Takes into consideration the physical requirements for each of the trips, walking, hiking, climbing in and out of safari vehicles etc.
           Moderate

Travelers should be able to climb 60 stairs consecutively, plus walk at least 3 miles over some steep slopes and loose or uneven surfaces without difficulty. Walks typically last for 3 or more hours at a time. Altitude can range from 5,000 to 7,000 feet.

Pacing

Takes into consideration the length of bus rides, flights, number of destinations in the number of days
           Moderately Easy

Moderately paced, and may include some early morning hotel departures, one or two on-tour flights, and extended motorcoach travel.

PACING:
  • This trip is moderately paced
  • Your 16-day ocean cruise tour includes 12 nights on board the 5-star Ocean Explorer; plus, hotel stays for 4 nights total (2 each) in Nassau and Bridgetown.
  • Over the course of 16 days you'll visit 9 ports of call.
  • Sightseeing is usually offered in half-day tours, with time to relax every day
  • There are 4 days at sea when you have ample time to relax and enjoy the amenities on board your luxury expedition vessel
  • We often cruise overnight but some scenic sailing will be conducted during daylight hours

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • You should be in relatively good health to fully enjoy this tour
  • This journey does not entail walking for great distances but you will be on your feet for an hour or two at a time
  • Most sightseeing takes place on air-conditioned coaches with guides
  • There are several walking tours through archaeological sites, historic centers, and villages where uneven steps and cobblestones should be expected
  • You will have the opportunity to swim, snorkel, kayak, and ride bikes
  • This cruise tour is not suitable for those who have difficulty walking or require wheelchairs or other mobility aids. Please refer to Vantage's wheelchair and handicapped traveler policy

TERRAIN & TRANSPORTATION:
  • Your ship is your main means of transportation between destinations
  • Land transportation is conducted on board motorcoaches
  • In some locations you may ride along uneven or bumpy roads, especially in more rural areas or at historical sites

CLIMATE
  • You will be traveling at and near the equator where the sun is strong, so we advise you to pack sunscreen and moisturizer (in the amounts permitted by TSA regulations), and bring a hat and sunglasses, as well. If you’re traveling in summer, be sure to bring very cool cotton or linen clothing
  • There is always a chance of rain, so bring a light rain jacket or umbrella
  • Since the weather is unpredictable, please check weather sites online for 10-day forecasts closer to your departure date to plan your packing accordingly
  • For protection from the sun, do as the locals do and cover up by wearing longer pants or skirts, and shirts with sleeves

Please Note: Ocean cruising is not the same experience as river cruising; as such, you may experience fluctuating tides and weather patterns that may involve some rocking of your vessel. Itineraries will include all activities as planned except in extreme cases that can’t be controlled by your shipboard crew. Day-by-day itineraries are preliminary and therefore subject to change. If changes occur while on tour, you will be notified by your Cruise Director or regional expert.
