What to Expect

Activity Level

Takes into consideration the physical requirements for each of the trips, walking, hiking, climbing in and out of safari vehicles etc.

Strenuous

Travelers should be able to climb 100 or more stairs consecutively, plus walk at least 8 miles over some steep slopes and loose or uneven surfaces without difficulty. Walks typically last for 4 or more hours at a time. Altitude can range from 10,000 feet or more.

Pacing

Takes into consideration the length of bus rides, flights, number of destinations in the number of days

Moderately Strenuous

Pacing is usually robust, and half or more of days will be full and active, including some early hotel departures and possible evening activities. Some free time may be available for rest and rejuvination. Travel within the journey is significant and may include several long motorcoach transfers, three or more on-tour flights, and/or occasional travel via non-traditional means such as safari vehicles, Zodiac ship tenders, rickshaws/pedi-cabs, etc.

PACING:

This is a moderately strenuous-paced itinerary.
Look forward to exploring 3 U.S. National Parks and 2 Navajo parks in 3 states over the course of 9 days via motor coach, with five 1 night accommodations and four 2 night accommodations.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

A professional Vantage Adventure Leader will guide you on short walks to see highlights of the National Parks.
Some stair-climbing and uneven terrain, nature paths, uphill walking may be required to get better views of canyons, etc.
Vantage recommends that passengers with respiratory or heart conditions check with their physicians, as the higher altitudes (up to 9,000 feet) may affect breathing.

TERRAIN & TRANSPORTATION:

Almost all sightseeing is on an air-conditioned coach with rest stops, lunch stops, and photo stops en route.
You will also travel in covered sightseeing vehicles.
This itinerary is packed with outdoor sightseeing within some of the world's greatest natural settings.
Some days may include longer bus transfers; however, each day is rewarding, with scenic splendor, included rest stops, and visits to “must-see” attractions.

CLIMATE:

Temperatures are at their highest in July and August and can reach 90 to 100 degrees in Arizona, Utah, and Nevada. However, it is a dry heat.
Passengers travel in air-conditioned coaches or in covered sightseeing vehicles.
Tours take place during cooler hours of the day.
Most hotels and lodges are air-conditioned.
We suggest good walking shoes.
Since the weather is unpredictable, please check weather sites online for 10-day forecasts closer to your departure date to plan your packing accordingly.
