Wildlife Viewing
On a Vantage adventure in Australia & New Zealand, you’ll get up close and personal with wildlife you can’t find anyplace else. And to ensure your adventure includes unforgettable wildlife experiences, we’ve crafted our Australia & New Zealand adventure to include safari opportunities — like your reef safari on the Great Barrier Reef.
The underwater world of the Great Barrier Reef
The Great Barrier Reef is the largest reef in the world — it stretches more than 1,600 miles and is larger than the UK, Switzerland, and The Netherlands. You’ll travel to the lesser visited outer part of the reef, so you can discover the 1,500 fish species, more than 200 species of birds, dozens of species of dolphins, porpoises, and whales, and more. You can experience this kaleidoscopic underwater world while snorkeling, scuba diving, or watching from an underwater observation deck.

Kangaroos
Perhaps the most famous wild denizen of the lands Down Under, kangaroos have incredibly powerful legs — so much so that they can leap nearly 30 feet in a single bound. These creatures feast mostly on grass and shrubs, and are also notable for their famous pouches in which their young (known as joeys) spend some formative time with their mothers.

Koalas
In spite of the “bear” that is often attached to their name, koalas are marsupials just like kangaroos. They eat a lot of eucalyptus leaves — up to two pounds a day — so they are often busy eating while hanging from a tree branch. They don’t do a lot of drinking though, as koalas get most of the water they need from the leaves (it is said their name comes from the Aboriginal word meaning “no drink”).
